The Minister of Energy and Mines of Peru and Chairman of Ica Region highly praised the project, affirmed its outstanding contribution to promoting local economic development, expanding employment, community improvement and environmental protection, and invited Chinese-funded enterprises, including Shougang, to continue to expand their investment and cooperation in the Secretariat.

It is reported that the Peruvian iron ore project of Shougang was put into operation in 1993. At present, its output has increased from 3 million tons per year to 20 million tons per year, and its cumulative investment has exceeded 2 billion US dollars. It is a representative project of Chinese-funded enterprises in Latin American mining field. In 2017, Shougang Peru Iron Mine New Area Project was expanded, and ICBC arranged an exclusive financing support of $550 million for it.

After the ceremony, ICBC held in-depth exchanges with Shougang Group and Baiyin Nonferrous Group on business opportunities such as the third phase expansion of Peru's iron ore industry.
